What Good is a Deaf Priest...?

William Christopher

10/20/1932 - 12/31/2016

The Flying Pincushion extends its sympathies to the family and friends of William Christopher on his passing.

For me, the character of Father Mulcahy, so masterfully played by William Christopher, in the hit TV show M*A*S*H, resonates over nearly a life-time.

Even with more than 30 years past since the show ended, whenever I watch an episode, something within it always seems to offer insight into our world now, though the conflicts are different, so much seems not so very much so.

Behind all the humor and insanity that often encompassed the lives of the members of the 4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital, is a hard and unyielding look at the horrific effects of war.

Many of those parralells and revelations I owe to the character of Father Mulcahy, which for me is perhaps all the more interesting given my own very different religious views.

Christopher's Padre stood firm as a figure of mercy and compassion in a world turned terribly cruel and indifferent to suffering, and never needed a gun, just occasionally a good right hook.

Saying Goodbye to the Last Daughter of Alderaan.

Carrie Fisher

10/21/1956 - 12/27/2016

Today, there is a great sadness in the force.

The Flying Pincushion mourns and loss of actress, author, and advocate Carrie Fisher.

She showed the world (and me) how much Imperial arse a woman could kick as Princess Leia.  Beyond that role however, Carrie Fisher was an accomplished author, speaker, and a tireless mental health advocate, among many other things.

Her family and friends have our deepest condolences and sympathy.

But much like the Rebellion her most famous character fought for, her accomplishments, both on film and off, will live on.

The Spirit of the Season...Primate Conflict!

Silver backs, silver backs (yeti)
It's Christmas time in the Himalayan Mountains
Bi-t-ing, (scre-a-ming) hear them fi-ght-ing (ba-tt-ling)
Soon it will be Christmas day

The Holiday season is upon us...be afraid, be very afraid.

Also, still not sure who made this a Christmas card...Darwin while very drunk perhaps?

Merry X-Mas from all of us at The Flying Pincushion!

And the people did feast upon the lambs, and sloths, and carp!

Whether your Thanksgiving looks something like this...

Or on the other side of things...like this....

From all the folks at The Flying Pincushion.

There I go, Playing the Star Again!

Yep, that's right folks, Into the Breach: the Bard is in it's final stages of production, and will soon be finding it's way to an e-shelf in a e-store near you.

So polish those vocals, do a Stealth dance, and tune up your axe (well, lute maybe), and give 'em a hell of a show.

Also, stay sharp, as a new lung bursting, ale swilling, princess seducing "Questions about Class" The Bard is coming to a stage near you.

Gone, but Never to be Forgotten: Steve Russell of Rite Publishing

The Flying Pincushion wishes to express how saddened we are by the sudden loss of Steve Russell of Rite Publishing.  I never had the privilege to meet Steve in person, but I feel I knew him through his work at Rite.  His passion and love of the hobby shines through each and every word.  Our industry is diminished by his loss, and our deepest and most heart felt sympathy goes out to Steve's family and friends.

Bellow is a link to the go fund me page, please, give if you can, or even if you can't, a few kind words for Steve's family means just as much.

Rest easy Steve, you dwell now in lands that are ever green.
